SPLIT-Promet FERRY SERVICE FROM SPLIT TO HVAR AND BRAC FUNCTIONS DESPITE GALE SPLIT, Jan 31 (Hina) - A north-eastern wind blowing occasionally over 150 kilometres per hour could not impede ferry traffic between Split and islands of
Hvar and Brac on Sunday morning. However, a ferry has not departed for Solta, the nearest island to Split, for two days, since the pier in the port of Necujmo is not adapted for accepting ships when a strong gale blows. Fortunately, in this stormy weather ships and ferries can dock at piers in new ports in Stari Grad on Hvar and Supetar on Brac, constructed last year. Until last year when the new ports were built, islands of Hvar and Brac used to be isolated during stronger gales.(hina) ms
