PULA, Jan 21 (Hina) - An exercise demonstrating the performance of manpower and equipment in times of ecologic disasters on sea was carried out in the sea-waters of northern Croatian port of Pula on Thursday. The exercise was carried
out as part of an international seminar on civil defence training for dealing with disasters, organised by the Croatian Interior Ministry and the British Embassay in Croatia. Also presented today was the "EKO 1" ecological ship which, according to commander Zlatko Simonovic, was purchased in 1995 on a European Union loan. These ecological ships, worth some DM 900,000, are used for assistance during major sea pollution. In just one hour they can process more than 4,000 square metres of polluted water. Currently there are three operating along the Croatian coastline.(hina) ha
