ZAGREB, Dec 20 (Hina) - The Croatian National Bank's (HNB) Council on Wednesday adopted a financial plan of the central bank for 2001 and made a decision on the start of the work of a National Clearing Scheme System (NKS). The HKS
will begin to work on 5 February 2001, and presents an significant step within reforms of the payment operation system in the country. This purpose of the National Clearance Scheme System is to make it possible for banks to carry out inter-bank transactions without any hindrance, whereas the risk of the payment operations in the sense of the conduct of payments will be reduced to the lowest possible level. Besides the existent Croatian system of major and great payments, the NKS will complete the necessary infrastructure for the accomplishment of the ultimate objective of the reform in the payment operation system - the transfer of transactions and

During today's session chaired by HNB Governor Zeljko Rohatinski,
the council took several other decisions from its scope of
