VIENNA, Dec 14 (Hina) - The OSCE Permanent Council on Thursday prolonged the mandate of the OSCE mission in Croatia until 31 January 2001. According to today's decision of the Council of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation
in Europe (OSCE), it is envisaged that the trend of cutting the number of mission members will go on, so that by mid-2001 there will be maximum 120 staffers. Thorough re-examination of this mandate is scheduled for the mid-2001 as well. Croatia's Ambassador to the OSCE in Vienna, Mario Nobilo, told Hina today that the Croatian Government had understanding for the OSCE's interest in local elections in the country and consolidation of their results as well as in a regional dimension of the attempts to solve the issues of refugee returns and reconstruction. Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The strategy of the future cooperation between Croatia and the OSCE
has been defined by the visit and participation of Croatian Foreign
Minister Tonino Picula in the recent ministerial conference of the
OSCE in Vienna, Ambassador Nobilo concluded.
