THE HAGUE, Dec 14 (Hina) - Croatian Ambassador to in the Netherlands
Jaksa Muljacic held talks with deputy chief prosecutor of the
International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia (ICTY)
Graham Blewitt in the headquarters of the Tribunal on Thursday.
"I expressed the concern of the Croatian Government cause by latest
statements and interviews of the deputy prosecutor", the Croatian
Ambassador said after the talks.
Blewitt on Wednesday confirmed that the Croatian authorities knew
the names of persons against whom the Hague-based Tribunal was
conducting investigations for crimes they had allegedly committed
during the 1995 "Storm" operation.
Blewitt told reporters that names which had recently appeared in
the Croatian media mostly matched with the names in prosecution's
investigating acts.
Asked whether the Prosecutor's Office had ever informed Croatian
authorities or anybody else in Croatia about the persons who were
the target of those probes relating to the "Storm", Blewitt
answered they had notified and told names.
Respecting the practice of the prosecutor's office, Blewitt
declined to reveal the names.
We are disappointed that the names have been made public (in the
media) and in this case Croatia has not acted in good faith, he
said.
In recent months Croatian media have speculated with names of a few
generals who may be potential indictees of the ICTY.
