ZAGREB, Dec 8 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's House of Representatives on Friday morning endorsed a law on the increase of pensions for persons who retired before late 1998. The law was passed by the majority of vote. In accordance
with the law, pensions will increase between 0.5 and 20 percent. Pensions for persons who retired before 1994 will increase by 20 percent. The budget for 2001 includes 2.1 billion kuna earmarked for the payment of debts to pensioners. A total of 23 billion kuna will be necessary for the payment of debts to pensioners in the next ten years. The House of Representatives also endorsed a law on pension insurance, in line with which, every year 40 billion kuna from the budget will be earmarked for students who suffered injures in schools and universities.
