ZAGREB, Dec 7 (Hina) - Croatia's government on Thursday forwarded into parliamentary procedure a motion to change regulations from the State Judicial Council (DSV) Law which the Constitutional Court assessed as anti-constitutional.
The proposed changes contain mechanisms warranting that DSV will decide on the appointment and relieving of judges competently and independently, based on professional scales, said Deputy Justice Minister Ranko Marijan. He added the proposed changes should upgrade the "representativeness of DSV's composition." The number of DSV members would be reduced from 15 to 11 after the exclusion of state prosecutors, according to constitutional provisions. Moreover, DSV would no longer be competent for the appointment of state prosecutors.(hina) ha jn
