SERB COUNCIL URGES SUBSTITUTING GOOD WILL POLICY WITH GOOD ACTION

ZAGREB, Nov 22 (Hina) - Despite optimistic statements from top state officials, Croatian Serb returnees' living issues are not being solved efficiently, the Serb People's Council (SNV) concluded at Wednesday's session in Zagreb. SNV president Milorad Pupovac reminded reporters that a few months ago, SNV had urged top state officials to substitute the policy of good will with one of "good action", but that not one step was taken as to the restitution of property, land and tenancy rights to Serb returnees, while only minor steps were taken in reconstruction. It is high time to approach the resolution of those issues concretely, Pupovac stressed. SNV will notify the government about their standpoint and via diplomatic channels try to inform representatives of the international community during Friday's Zagreb Summit, he added, reminding the international community was responsible for resolving returnees' issues. Pupovac stressed the Croatian Serb community supported the purpose of the Summit and Croatia's access to the European Union. We would like to contribute more to Croatia's integration with EU structures but the government deprives us of means for doing so, he said. (hina) ha
