"According to the latest available information, there are no
Croatian citizens among the 159 victims of the accident," she
said.
It was reported on Sunday that the casualties included two Slovene
and one Croat national. However, according to Monday information,
the three casualties are all Slovenes, the spokeswoman said.
Most of the victims, whose exact number is still not known, are
Austrians, Germans, a group of Japanese students, and US soldiers
stationed in Germany.
The names of the victims will be announced only after their direct
identification, which will be very difficult, especially in some
cases. Most of the victims have burnt beyond recognition and it will
not be possible to identify them using the 'usual methods' so that
the families of the deceased will have to undergo DNA tests, she
said.
