INDEPENDENT TRADE UNIONS FORM SECTION FOR UNEMPLOYED

ZAGREB, Oct 26 (Hina) - A section for unemployed persons, which should represent the interests of jobless persons before competent state bodies and institutions and propose employment programmes, was established recently at the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH). The section was established by the SSSH commission for Zagreb, but it will soon spread to the entire Croatia, SSSH's commissioner for Zagreb, Damir Gasparovic, told reporters on Thursday. One of the main tasks of the section will be the prevention of black labour, which, according to union estimates, currently involves more then 120,000 persons. "We shall also see that the number of associate employees (employees who have the same obligations as full-time employees, but less rights) is normalised, because as many as 10,000 associate employees are working in the Croatian media alone," Gasparovic said. The president of the section, Sinisa Markovic, said the drawing up of a programme on employment and self-employment would soon be completed. The section would like to present those programmes to the Labour Ministry and the Croatian Employment Bureau, of which it expects to grant funds for their implementation, Markovic said. (hina) jn rml
