TALIN, Oct 20 (Hina) - Croatia and Estonia have the same strategic
goals, integration into Euro-Atlantic structures, and Zagreb, on
its road to the European Union, can count on Talin's assistance,
high-ranking Estonian officials said in their capital on Friday.
Earlier today, Estonia's Prime Minister Marto Laar, Foreign
Minister Toomas Hendrik Ilves, and representatives of parliament's
Committee on the Constitution held talks with a Croatian
parliamentary delegation headed by speaker Zlatko Tomcic.
Foreign Minister Ilves said Estonia was an example of how, when it
came to joining the EU, an individual approach to a region's country
was possible.
He explained Estonia had often been perceived as one of three Baltic
countries, and that it took the EU long to consent to hold
negotiations with Estonia without Latvia and Lithuania.
This is why we understand Croatia's situation, which objects to a
regional approach, Ilves said.
The Croatian parliamentary delegation wraps up its two-day trip to
Estonia today.
