ZAGREB, Oct 11 (Hina) - Croatian national parliament's House of
Representatives on Wednesday unanimously adopted a conclusion that
cooperation in efforts aimed at shedding light on the destiny of
detained and missing Croatian soldiers and civilians was one of the
pivotal points for the normalisation of ties between Croatia and
the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY).#L#
The lower house bound all state officials to raise the question
about the whereabouts of missing and detained Croatian soldiers and
civilians during their meetings with officials from Yugoslavia,
Bosnia-Herzegovina (including its Serb entity - the Republic of
Srpska) and representatives of international organisations.
MPs endorsed this conclusion along with a report on the work of the
Government's commission in charge of tracing detained and missing
soldiers and civilians. The report covered its activities from 15
October 1999 to 30 August 2000.
The Commission's head, Ivan Grujic, said it was still searching for
1,588 persons.
During Wednesday morning's discussion on the report, MPs stressed
it was necessary to expedite the search and ensure enough money for
further exhumations and identifications, as well as that it was
necessary to mark, in a dignified and appropriate manner, the sites
of 125 mass graves of victims of the Serbian aggression on Croatia.
