CROATIAN PEOPLE'S LIBERATION COUNCIL CALLS FOR MILITARY COUP

ZAGREB, Oct 11 (Hina) - The Croatian People's Liberation Council, an obscure organisation which recently issued public threats to the highest state officials, called for a military coup on Wednesday. The call was formulated in a statement, sent to the media by post. The Council further claims that "conditions for a coup" against the new authority, which is described with pejorative terms, are ripe. The Council further announces that, if the Croatian army and volunteer units do not start battling against the authorities, it will "continue the already started guerrilla people's liberation struggle until the final victory." The statement was signed by a general Hopp, about whom or the Council the public does not know anything, except that in late September the Council published a letter imposing death sentences for treason and anti-Croat activity on the president of the state, the premier and five other politicians, two human rights activists and two reporters. A spokesman for the Interior Ministry then said the letter was one in a series of threats which were being publicly made known and that the ministry was taking measures from within its jurisdiction.
