RULING COALITION REACHES CONSENSUS ON NUMEROUS ISSUES REGARDING CONSTITUTIONAL CHANGES

ZAGREB, Oct 2 (Hina) - Parliamentary benches of the ruling coalition of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS), a joint meeting held Monday in the Croatian national parliament reached a consensus on the majority of issues regarding a bill on constitutional changes, which should be discussed in the Croatian parliament's House of Representatives Friday. At a meeting, which was also attended by Croatian Prime Minister Ivica Racan and ministers from the two parties, the issues of parliamentary commissioners for the defence and national security, who would, in accordance with the bill on constitutional changes, supervise the legislation of activities of certain bodies in the armed forces and intelligence services, was also agreed on. A consensus was reached on the majority of issues regarding the bill on constitutional changes, president of the SDP parliamentary bench Mato Arlovic said. He added that several issues are still to be discussed, such as the dissolution of the parliament. President of the HSLS parliamentary bench Djurdja Adlesic said this should be discussed on Tuesday by presidents the SDP and HSLS, as well as of their parliamentary benches, and representatives of the six ruling parties.
