VARAZDIN COURT POSTPONES TRIAL OF FUMBLING SLOVENE SPIES VARAZDIN, Sept 7 (Hina) - The municipal court in the northern Croatian town of Varazdin on Thursday postponed the trial of two Slovene espionage suspects due to changes to their
indictment. Anton Slatinsek and Branko Bezgovsek were arrested two years ago in a van carrying espionage equipment on Croatia's territory near the Croatian - Slovene border. The van was seized by the Croatian police as evidence, the fumbling spies were allowed to return to Slovenia, were they were suspended by the Slovene intelligence service. Since both spies have responded to court subpoenas, the Varazdin court decided that there was no reason for them to be detained. The trial will not be public because the criminal act the Slovenes are charged with is considered a state secret. Slatinsek and Bezgovsek have sued their employer over their suspension.(hina) jn rml
