SARAJEVO, Sept 2 (Hina) - War crime suspect Vlatko Buzuk, who was
arrested by Sarajevo police at Orasje border crossing Friday, was
brought before investigators of the Canton Court in Sarajevo
Saturday, the Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry said in a
statement.
Buzuk was arrested by local police after an arrest warrant was
issued by the Canton Court in Sarajevo. Members of the police forces
in Sarajevo Canton took Buzuk into custody Friday.
Sarajevo media reported that Buzuk was arrested under suspicion
that he had committed or participated in war crimes in central
Bosnia during the Homeland War.
Bosnia-Herzegovina Television reported that the names of Buzuk and
Dominik Ilijasevic, who has been previously arrested in Kiseljak,
were on the same list of suspects who committed war crimes in Stupni
Do near Vares where members of the Croatian Council of Defence
killed 16 Bosniaks in autumn of 1993.
Saturday's issue of Sarajevo's daily "Dnevni Avaz" read that Buzuk
was also a Kiseljak resident who was, during the war, the commander
of a special unit of the interior ministry of Herceg-Bosna with
headquarters in Kresevo.
Allegedly, Buzuk continued to work for the interior ministry after
the war.
After the arrest of Dominik Ilijasevic, the interior minister of
Central Bosnia Canton Midhat Zubaca said he received open threats
by members of crime groups from Kiseljak. He told local media he had
received a threatening letter on the kidnapping of his son. He
added, however, he would not be intimidated by threats and arrests
would continue.
Sarajevo's daily "Dnevni Avaz" on Saturday read that Ilijasevic's
arrest only demonstrated all insufficiencies on the functioning of
the Federation Interior Ministry.
