NEW YORK, Sept 2 (Hina) - On the last day of a conference gathering parliament speakers of 135 countries held in New York, Croatian National parliament speaker Zlatko Tomcic on Friday held talks with parliament speakers of Austria,
Italy, Hungary and Turkey. Tomcic informed the speakers of preparations for a meeting of members of parliaments of the Stability Pact member countries to be held in Zagreb. He pointed to the significance of the expansion of the Stability Pact to the parliamentary level. Tomcic presented Croatia's standpoints regarding current issues in the region. He stressed that permanent stability could not be achieved without changes in the situation in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Tomcic informed the speakers of preparations for a meeting of

Tomcic presented Croatia's standpoints regarding current issues in
the region. He stressed that permanent stability could not be

Austrian parliament speaker Heinz Fisher expressed regret about
his inability to personally participate in Zagreb's meeting,
however, he confirmed the arrival of Austria's senior delegation.
He also expressed wish and hope that the process of Croatia's
joining the European Union be quick and dynamic.
Italian parliament speaker Luciano Violente will attend the
meeting in Zagreb personally. He suggested that apart from a
general conclusion, documents on several most significant issues
such as democracy, environment protection also be adopted at the
meeting.
Hungarian parliament speaker Janos Ader also welcomed Croatia's
joining the trilateral group (Italy, Hungary, Slovenia). He
advocated the strengthening of parliamentary cooperation.
Croatian Speaker Tomcic invited him in an official visit to
Zagreb.
Turkish parliament speaker Yildrim Akbulut also confirmed he would
attend Zagreb's summit. He positively assessed the overall
development of bilateral relations between Croatia and Turkey.
