434,107 TOURISTS CURRENTLY VACATIONING ON CROATIAN ADRIATIC

ZAGREB, Aug 22 (Hina) - At the moment, 434,107 guests are registered in Adriatic tourists destinations, namely 33 percent more that at the same time in 1999 and 21 percent more than in the most successful post-war 1998. According to incomplete data of the Croatian Tourist Association, there are 389,500 foreign guests, namely 41.4 percent more that in 1999, while the number of domestic tourists dropped by 11.15 percent to 44,600. Of seven Adriatic counties, the majority of tourists, namely 147,000 or 13 percent more than in 1999 are vacationing Istria County, while 112,700 are registered in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, namely 38 percent more than in 1999. Split-Dalmatia County follows with 65,400 tourists, namely 59 percent more than in 1999, and Zadar County with 41,500 registered tourists, namely 27 percent more. The greatest increase in the number of visitors was marked in Sibenik-Knin County which currently has 79 percent more tourists that in the same period the year before, namely 29,000, and Dubrovnik-Neretva County where the number of guests increased by 60 percent to close to 30,000 guests. Only 8,540 have chosen vacation spots in Lika-Senj County. The number, however, is 45 percent greater than the number of tourists at the same time the year before. (hina) it
