ZAGREB, Aug 16 (Hina) - More than half a million tourists are vacationing along Croatia's Adriatic coastline at the peak of this year's summer season, which is 41 percent more than at the same time last year and 19 percent more than
in 1998, the best post-war year.

Currently, 467,089 foreigners are spending holidays in Croatia,
which is 53.6 percent more than last year.
According to data from tourist boards of Croatia's seven counties
on the Adriatic Sea, the Istrian peninsula in the north has been
chosen as the summer destination of the highest number of tourists,
196,992, or 33 percent more than last year.
Primorje-Gorski Kotar County's Tourist Board has reported 137,452
tourists vacationing in this county along the northern Adriatic, an
increase of 39 percent in comparison to 1999.
Split-Dalmatia County in the central-southern Adriatic comes in
third, with 77,065 tourists recorded on August 14, 57 percent more
than in 1999. Zadar County and Sibenik-Knin County, in the central
Adriatic, come next, with 52,904 and 37,559 tourists respectively,
or 18 and 82 percent more that at the same time last year.
Dubrovnik-Neretva County in southern-most Croatia is the current
destination of 33,800 tourists, 55 percent more than in 1999.
