OPATIJA, Aug 16 (Hina) - A total of 137,452 tourists vacationed on the Kvarner Riviera in Croatia's northern Adriatic over the past weekend, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County's Tourist Board said on Wednesday, adding this was 39.3 percent
more than at the same time last year and 18.4 percent more than in 1998. Foreign tourists, 122,392, accounted for 89 percent of the holiday-makers. Most tourists stayed on the island of Krk, 42,619, followed by 35,130 on the Cres and Losinj islands, 23,232 on the Crikvenica-Vinodolski Riviera, 21,187 on the island of Rab, 12,057 on the Opatija Riviera, 2,194 in the Rijeka region, and 143 in the Gorski Kotar hills.(hina) ha
