President Stipe Mesic and Prime Minister Ivica Racan held talks in an excellent atmosphere Wednesday night, participants asserted. Instead of the envisaged 45 minutes, the talks lasted almost an hour and were interrupted due to other duties Clinton had to attend. Racan described the meeting as "the crown of our two-day visit". It is significant that Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and the Secretaries of Defense and Treasury, William Cohen and Lawrence Summers respectively, attended the meeting as well. The participants agreed on a visit by a US state and business delegation to Croatia next month.
