SARAJEVO, Aug 8 (Hina) - The number of minority returns on the territory of Bosnia-Herzegovina has been increasing and the process is steadily progressing, the United Nations' High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Sarajevo

A statement, issued by the head of the UNHCR Mission to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Werner Blatter, read that 19,751 refugees who belonged to the minority category had returned to their homes in the first half of this year. Those are persons who are returning to the parts of the country where they currently make up a minority ethnic group. In the same period of 1999, there were 7,709 minority returns and the latest results represent a 156 percent increase. The number of persons who are opting for return emphasises the importance of urgent support, Blatter said, reminding that in the eastern Bosnia alone there were 41 tent settlements in which returnees were waiting for assist
