CROATIAN AND MACEDONIAN PRESIDENTS END TALKS ON BRIJUNI

FAZANA, Aug 6 (Hina) - Croatian and Macedonian presidents Stipe Mesic and Boris Trajkovski expressed satisfaction with their talks on the north Adriatic island of Brijuni Saturday night. "Our intention was for our meeting not to be too exposed in the media. Croatia and Macedonia have a lot to resolve, but today we mostly discussed the upcoming meeting to be held in Zagreb at French President Jacques Chirac's initiative, which will gather 15 heads of state of EU countries and countries of the former Yugoslavia, Mesic said Saturday night in Fazana. Macedonian President Trajkovski told reporters the talks had mainly focused on modalities and possible approaches to the talks in Zagreb. "Croatia and Macedonia have a positive opinion of the French President's initiative. Also, a similar meeting at the level of foreign ministers should take place in September," Trajkovski said. He added Macedonia supported an accelerated realisation of the Stability Pact for the South East of Europe, and is exceptionally interested in the construction of a highway which would connect Macedonia with other European countries.
