The anniversary of "By-Laws of the Town of Castua AD 1400" was an
occasion for issuing a postage stamp that has delighted
philatelists, historians as well as the cultural public, read an
article issued in the "HP" journal.
The statute (by-laws) of Kastav was written in the Glagolitic
script and Chakavian dialect of the Croatian language.
This act represented a period of transition from oral, common law to
the written regulations.
Its provisions regulated rights and liabilities of Kastav
citizens.
Besides this act, at that time there was "Rijecki Urbar", a document
which introduced the rule of law in the everyday life of inhabitants
of Kvarner (the area of Rijeka).
