ZAGREB ZAGREB, July 18 (Hina) - Croatian President Stipe Mesic on Tuesday evening returned to Zagreb from a two-day visit to Brussels, where he held talks at European Union and NATO headquarters, and Belgium, assessing it as one of
his most important visits to date. "It is the most important visit because Croatia has chosen access to the EU and NATO as its strategic goals, and a visit to those associations' headquarters means the opening of talks on the achievement of those goals," the President said at Zagreb's airport. He added Croatia had been "given support for everything we are doing." Mesic said Croatia could surely expect financial assistance from Europe's countries and the EU in the form of investments in resources. "We don't need charity aid, but means which will finance our potentials," he said. He ended his stay in Brussels by holding talks with mayor Xavier De Donea, and was also received by King of Belgium Albert II.
