ZAGREB, July 3 (Hina) - President of the Association of Croatian Judges (UHS) Vladimir Gredelj invited Croatian Justice Minister Stjepan Ivanisevic to a debate on television, where they would present arguments pro and against
amendments to the law on the state judicial council. A draft law, completed by the Croatian Justice Ministry, was harshly criticised by the UHS. The main misunderstanding was about a bill in line with which the authority of the state judicial council to appoint court presidents is to be annulled. According to the bill of amendments, they are to be appointed by the Justice Minister at the proposal of judges. Gradelj assessed a decision of the Constitutional Court in accordance with which the state judicial council has no right to appoint court presidents, as wrong.(hina) it jn
