ZAGREB, July 14 (Hina) - The number of tourist arrivals in Croatia recorded in this year's first five months reached 1.01 million, a 28-percent increase in comparison to the same period the year before, the State Bureau of Statistics
said on Friday. The number of overnight stays was 3.26 million, 29 percent more than in 1999. Foreigners accounted for 627,066 of all tourist arrivals, a 50-percent increase in comparison to last year, realising 2.26 million overnight stays, an increase of 47 percent. Domestic tourists accounted for 388,312 arrivals, four percent more than in 1999, realising 996,051 overnight stays, the same figure as last year. In this year's first five months, German tourists accounted for

from Great Britain for 3.6 percent.
The highest number of tourist arrivals in this year's first five
months was recorded in hotels, 730,547 or 27 percent more than at
the same time last year, accounting for 2.2 million overnight
stays, an increase of 29 percent.
The highest increase in the number of tourist arrivals, 210
percent, was recorded in children and youth holiday centres, while
the highest drop, 17 percent, was recorded in motels.
