RENOVATION OF VUKOVAR HOUSES TO PROCEED ACCORDING TO SCHEDULE

VUKOVAR, July 6 (Hina) - Croatia's Deputy Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction and Construction, Zdenko Curlina, on Thursday said the reconstruction of family houses in the war-hit eastern Croatian areas would resume soon. The Ministry would maintain already established time terms and the reconstruction of 500 houses in Vukovar-Sirmium County, that started last year, would be completed this October, while the repairs on another 350 houses would be done next year, Curlina said in Vukovar where he and local authorities discussed problems in the renovation of family houses, other facilities, schools and the infrastructure. Curlina said the advantage would be given to the reconstruction of houses whose owners were still being in hotels, so that hotels could get their rooms back for using to commercial purposes, and whose owners were still in refugee settlements as well as whose owners were suffering economic hardship. During Thursday's session it was said that flats in this county would not be renovated as long as the issue of the tenancy rights were not solved and that's why no budgetary means were predicted in this year's budget. Local authorities pointed to the necessity of reconstructing roads, public utilities, schools and public institutions in Vukovar, which should be renovated with the financial assistance of other Croatian counties.
