ZAGREB, June 9 (Hina) - About 100 employees of Croatia's largest
chain of department stores Nama and members of the Nama employees
trade Union (SRTN) gathered at Zagreb's central square, Ban Jelacic
Square Friday morning.
Nama employees did not stage a protest, they, however, confirmed
their decision to go on strike as of Tuesday.
The strike will be staged due to a decision of the Nama Supervising
Committee to start a bankruptcy process in stead of the process of
the financial reconstruction proposed by the Nama management, as
well as yesterday's support of the Croatian Government to the
decision of the Nama Supervising Committee.
Head of the Zagreb office of the Croatian Association of Trade
Unions, Mario Ivekovic, said that SRTN activists were distributing
flyers to MPs outside of the Croatian National Sabor Building
Thursday requesting support for efforts trade unions have been
investing in the financial reconstruction of Nama.
Ivekovic believes that the Nama financial reconstruction programme
is justified and has a perspective, and that the Government failed
to adopt it because it was under the pressure of vice prime minister
Slavko Linic.
