SISAK IRONWORKS CONTINUES SISAK, July 5 (Hina) - Some workers of the ironworks in Sisak, (50 kilometres south east of Zagreb) went on strike on Wednesday morning. Of 2,600 employees with the Sisak iron plant, a few hundred workers
this morning continued the blockade of three entrances to the company, which they imposed on Tuesday. They said they would block them until they received the entire salary for May. Protesters insisted on the accountability of the company's management and the Government for bad business results of the ironworks. They also demanded that finance and crime police check the financial transactions of the company and the sitters-in discontinued the delivery to and transport from the plant. The management could not guarantee that May salaries would be paid
and recalled that a Croatian Deputy Prime Minister, Slavko Linic,
had announced at the June 6 session that the Croatian Privatisation
Fund (HFP) and the Economy Ministry would ensure salaries as long as
the company was going through the process of rehabilitation.
