CROATIAN JOURNALISTS' UNION INSISTS ON TALKS WITH GOVERNMENT

BIZOVAC, June 17 (Hina) - The assembly of Croatian journalists' union on Saturday ordered to the executive committee to set up a group, within next two weeks, for talks with the Government on grave position of employees with public media. In case results of the talks are negative or the Government refuses to discuss journalists' problems, the union will organise protect actions. Unionists said it was necessary to open negotiations on the conclusion of a collective agreement for this profession at a national level. They pointed to the difficult position of reporters who have had a hourly-paid job in the public media for several years but have not been offered contracts for the full-time employment, although they work the same job as full-time workers.
