ZAGREB, June 15 (Hina) - The Croatian Oil Industry (INA) is the first on the list of 400 Croatian leading companies, according to corporate earnings of 10.3 billion kuna in 1999, while the pharmaceutical company Pliva is the first in
the standings according to the net earnings it had last year (838.5 million kuna) Those 400 firms realised 128.6 billion kuna of corporate earnings or 4.8 percent higher as against in 1998, reported the "Privredni Vjesnik" weekly.
ZAGREB, June 15 (Hina) - The Croatian Oil Industry (INA) is the
first on the list of 400 Croatian leading companies, according to
corporate earnings of 10.3 billion kuna in 1999, while the
pharmaceutical company Pliva is the first in the standings
according to the net earnings it had last year (838.5 million kuna)
Those 400 firms realised 128.6 billion kuna of corporate earnings
or 4.8 percent higher as against in 1998, reported the "Privredni

According to this journal and the Institute for Payment Operations
(ZAP), a major feature of the last year was that current loss was
higher than profit.
Losses came to 15.1 billion kuna (by 21.3 percent higher compared to
1998), while the income totalled 8.4 billion kuna (by 25.1 percent
higher in comparison to the previous year).
The surveyed group of the 400 firms registered 4.2 billion kuna of
the net profit.
The number of employees (271,567 workers) with them represented
37.9 percent in the country's economy or by 1.45 percent lower as
against the year before.
Of those 400 companies, firms dealing with trade make up 35.6
percent and the manufacturing industry 31.5 percent.
There were 241 private firms in this list, employing 28.6 percent of
workers, and realising 42.3 percent of the total income or 39.6
percent of net profit.
