ZAGREB, June 1 (Hina) - Croatia's Government on Thursday forwarded to the national parliament supplements to the mine clearance law. These additions provide for the same rights, which war veterans enjoy, to be granted to pyrotechnists
wounded after the Homeland War. These rights will also be given to families of mine clearance experts who have lost their lives while performing their tasks. From the end of June 1996 to the mid-June 1998 seven pyrotechnists were killed and ten sustained injuries on duty. The Government adopted a report on the implementation of a plan for mine removal in 1999. About 182 million kuna were spent last year for the mine clearance. There were 51 accidents in this job in 1999 as against 92 in 1998. Mine-infested areas have been reduced by one quarter. In all 14 counties where mines were planted, their set-up and position have been established, read the report.(hina) jn ms
