DUBROVNIK DUBROVNIK, May 8 (Hina) - A two-day conference on investments in private projects in central and eastern European countries started in Dubrovnik Monday under the organisation of the International Financial Corporation (IFC),
a special body within the World Bank. Coordinator of the IFC programme for Croatia, Vedran Antoljak, said so far US$88 million had been invested in eight projects in Croatia. The Corporation invested US$21.5 million into the most recent project of the "Victor Lenac" ship yard. Investments could be larger, but, participants of the conference said, there was a lack of political will to spur direct foreign investments into the private sector. The IFC was established in 1956, while it has been active in Croatia since 1990.
