ZAGREB, April 26 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's House of Representatives on Wednesday rejected a Croatian Party of Rights-motioned bill of amendments to the labour law, binding the government to urgently draft integral amendments
to same. The amendments should protect workers' rights in the event of non-payment of salaries. A bill of amendments to the penal law, motioned by Jadranka Kosor of the Croatian Democratic Union, was unanimously forwarded into second reading. The bill should provide higher protection for women and children from violence in family environments, and binds the government to draft an integral, new penal law within two months. Kosor said that in only one year, between 1996 and 1997, family violence and violence over women had escalated by more than 100 percent. The Lower House today forwarded into second reading an Istrian

municipal economy. The government and the IDS will motion the
