ZAGREB, April 14 (Hina) - The Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP) and the Pension Insurance Fund have received six offers for the purchase of the newspaper house "Vjesnik", the HFP head Hrvoje Vojkovic said on Friday. On Thursday
representatives of the Croatian Government, HFP, the Pension Fund and Vjesnik discussed four models of possible privatisation of Vjesnik and it is now up to the Government to decide on its privatisation. The most real variant seems to be the separation of the "Vjesnik" daily from the "Hrvatska Tiskara" (Croatian printing house), Vojkovic said. Then, a new limited liability company - Novi Vjesnik d.o.o. - will be established and it will include equipment and staff of the current daily, while Vjesnik d.d. (the joint stock company) will be only a printing house. Only the new limited liability company - Novi Vjesnik - will be on sale, Vojkovic explained. Aske
ZAGREB, April 14 (Hina) - The Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP) and
the Pension Insurance Fund have received six offers for the
purchase of the newspaper house "Vjesnik", the HFP head Hrvoje
Vojkovic said on Friday.
On Thursday representatives of the Croatian Government, HFP, the
Pension Fund and Vjesnik discussed four models of possible
privatisation of Vjesnik and it is now up to the Government to
decide on its privatisation.
The most real variant seems to be the separation of the "Vjesnik"
daily from the "Hrvatska Tiskara" (Croatian printing house),
Vojkovic said.
Then, a new limited liability company - Novi Vjesnik d.o.o. - will
be established and it will include equipment and staff of the
current daily, while Vjesnik d.d. (the joint stock company) will be
only a printing house. Only the new limited liability company - Novi
Vjesnik - will be on sale, Vojkovic explained.
Asked by persistent reporters he said those who showed interest in
the purchase of Vjesnik were the Croatian weekly "Nacional", a
German publishing company, an Italian businessman Mate Vekic and
the paper industry "PAN".
Another two offers have been forwarded directly to the Pension Fund
but Vojkovic could not say anything about them.
Vojkovic told reporters that on 11 April the HFP had made a decision
on the capital stock of the 'Slobodna Dalmacija - Novine' company.
Its initial capital is 40.1 million kuna (approximately 10 million
German marks).
The capital stock consists of the value of the social capital coming
to 9.46 million German marks, the value of the capital invested by
employees in 1990 and 1991 coming to DM 196,000 and the value of
claims transformed into a deposit of DM 500,000.
Now a proposal on the further destiny and ownership of this Split-
based daily is expected. According to some information, some of
those who offered bids to buy Vjesnik are interested in Slobodna
Dalmacija as well.
