PREMIER RACAN RECEIVES PRINCESS OF THAILAND

ZAGREB, April 11 (Hina) - Croatia's Premier Ivica Racan on Tuesday received Mahu Chakri Sirindhorn, the Princess of Thailand, with whom he discussed the advancement of economic relations between the two countries. The two officials discussed potential fields of investment, as well as Croatia's endeavours to join European integration and the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Thai Deputy Premier and Trade Minister Supachi Panitchpakdi will become WTO's director this summer. According to a statement from the Croatian government's Media and Public Relations Office, it was pointed out during today's talks that Thailand and Croatia have very good political relations. By recognising Croatia as an independent country on 2 May 1992, Thailand was among the first Asian countries to do so. Croatia and Thailand have signed two agreements, one on air traffic, and another on the stimulation and protection of investments. Several bilateral agreements are currently being prepared. The Thai princess was today also received by Croatian President Stipe Mesic. A Thai delegation will visit the southern Croatian port of Dubrovnik on Wednesday. (hina) ha mm
