ZAGREB/VRBOVEC, April 10 (Hina) - Workers of the meat packing and canning factory "PIK Vrbovec" on Monday decided to discontinue roadblocks in Vrbovec (some 40 kilometres east of Zagreb), a leader of workers' union, Stjepan Lebos told
Hina. Protesters have received letters from the firm's management confirming that money for two back salaries have been paid on PIK Vrbovec giro accounts. In this way, workers will get back salaries for January and February on which they insisted in order to stop their industrial action. Lebos said traffic on roads in the Vrbovec area would soon be back to normal. The PIK Vrbovec employees' protest started last Thursday. They asked for the payment of at least two minimum salaries (each comes to 1190 kuna or some 150 US dollars) for January and February and for the covering of commuting costs.(hina) ms
