ZAGREB, April 4 (Hina) - The Organised Election Monitoring By Citizens (GONG) association on Tuesday presented a drive called "These Are Our Deputies", which is aimed at acquainting citizens with their deputies and informing them
about how they can talk to them. The connection between voters and representatives is not severed once the elections are over but it lasts for the next four years so that deputies could be informed about citizens' problems, GONG officials said. GONG has printed promotional leaflets with the names of deputies from each constituency and the address and phone number of the Croatian National Sabor. GONG executive director Suzana Jasic told reporters today GONG would continue issuing similar leaflets but with the direct numbers of each deputy. ZAGREB, April 4 (Hina) - The Organised Election Monitoring By
Citizens (GONG) association on Tuesday presented a drive called
"These Are Our Deputies", which is aimed at acquainting citizens
with their deputies and informing them about how they can talk to
them.
The connection between voters and representatives is not severed
once the elections are over but it lasts for the next four years so
that deputies could be informed about citizens' problems, GONG
officials said.
GONG has printed promotional leaflets with the names of deputies
from each constituency and the address and phone number of the
Croatian National Sabor. GONG executive director Suzana Jasic told
reporters today GONG would continue issuing similar leaflets but
with the direct numbers of each deputy. GONG will also monitor the
implementation of elections for the Zagreb City Assembly, Jasic
said, calling on citizens to register with the Zagreb GONG office.
Jasic informed reporters about the signing of a petition for
keeping Zagreb's Youth Hostel open.
Jasic also spoke about accommodation problems the association's
branches in Split and Zadar were facing. During the recent election
GONG members were able to use the offices granted by the two cities
free of charge, but the association continues operating after the
elections as well and it cannot pay the rent, Jasic said urging
Zadar and Split city authorities to help and provide free use of
offices.
