ZAGREB, March 30 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivica Racan after
a working lunch with Croatian President Stipe Mesic and president
of the Croatian National Sabor Zlatko Tomcic on Thursday said the
relations between the three officials were good so far and
expressed hope that the relations would be even better in the
future.
Primer Racan said that this and other significant issues would be
discussed at tomorrow's press conference, namely changes of the
political system, the constitution, parliamentary democracy, the
protocol and residences.
Today I am preoccupied with more significant problems which were
discussed at the Government's session, such as the Istarska Bank,
than wrong interpretation of personal relations, Racan stressed.
I am not impressed with this conflict being blown out of proportion
and I will place this on the agenda tomorrow, Racan added. "You know
very well that there were people in my party who did not agree with
me, and I did not prevent that, and I don't intend to do this for
others either", the Premier said.
"I don't see conflicts between the Government, the Sabor, and the
President of the state, I only see logical differences...and those
differences should not be worrying in democratic Croatia", Racan
said. You should not make that big of a problem for Croatia out of
those differences, the Prime Minister told reporters.
When asked to comment on regulations of a draft law on the Office of
the President, which President Mesic assessed as unacceptable
addding that certain regulations were being conducted without his
knowledge, Racan said he had no clue about such regulations. "I am
aware of other bills which I presented to the President personally
for consultations", Racan added. He stressed that the issue of the
Law on the Office of the President was no secret. It is logical that
political leaders consult one another and that is exactly what
Mesic requested.
