ZAGREB, March 22 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's House of Representatives on Wednesday adopted by a majority of vote the deferment of coming into force until 1 January 2001 of a law on amendments to the Child's Allowance Law.
According to the law on amendments, children of the unemployed, farmers, and craftsmen would also be entitled to child's allowance. MPs of the Croatian Democratic Union and the Croatian Party of rights voted against. The government is deferring the law's coming into force due to a lack of budgetary funds, and due to the former government's failure to effect changes necessary for the law's application. Labour and Social Welfare Minister Davorko Vidovic pointed out "the former government, when passing the law, did not seriously intend to implement it."(hina) ha mm
