SPLIT, March 21 (Hina) - Croatian Seamen's Union on Tuesday warned the Government that it would take most severe unionist steps unless the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs made it public in next 15 days whether it has a
strategy for recovering the Croatian shipping industry. During a news conference in the coastal city of Split, seamen said they had already informed Transport Minister Alojz Tusek and Premier Ivica Racan of their problems, but the two have not yet responded to their letters. A unionist leader, Milica Njegovan, said the warning should not be connected with the change of authorities in Croatia. This trade union is also against the proposed draft budget for 2000 as it envisages less means for Jadrolinija, a shipping company, than it was given last year and in 1999 Jadrolinija had losses in the work.(hina) mm ms
