ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - The Government and trade unions of public and state services on Thursday started a conciliation proceedings regarding a warning strike, announced by trade union to be held on March 21. Trade unions opposed
the Croatian Government's intention to decrease gross salaries for state budget users by five percent as a part of the savings programme. A representative of the Government in the conciliation council proposed that the issue be solved by the increase of non-taxable part of salaries and establishing mechanism for the adjustment of the increase of salaries in public and state services and the increase of salaries in state-owned companies, president of the conciliation council Zeljko Potocnjak said. regarding a warning strike, announced by trade union to be held on

Trade unions opposed the Croatian Government's intention to

A representative of the Government in the conciliation council
proposed that the issue be solved by the increase of non-taxable

the increase of salaries in public and state services and the

Trade unions proposed that the issue be solved by the signing of a

Considering expressed readiness of both parties to solve this issue
in peaceful way, the conciliation council interrupted today's
session and scheduled another one for Saturday.
