ZAGREB, Mar 3 (Hina) - The Croatian Interior Ministry on Friday confirmed that a Hungarian-French citizen, Laszlo Liszkai, had been arrested at Zagreb airport on February 18 on the basis of an international arrest warrant issued by
the Interpol office in Budapest. Lizskai, a former communication director of the commercial Hungarian TV station RTL Klub, had been accused of tax fraud and the forging of personal documents and sentenced to two years' imprisonment, but before the execution of the sentence he escaped to France, AFP quoted the largest-circulation Hungarian daily 'Nepszabadsag' as saying. The Zagreb Interpol office informed the Croatian ministries of
interior and justice as well as the Hungarian and French Interpol
offices about Liszkai's arrest, the head of the Interior Ministry's
public relations office, Slavko Rako, told Hina today.
Liszkai was taken before the investigating judge, who ruled that he
be taken into custody prior to his extradition and the Budapest
Interpol office sent the Zagreb Interpol office a message saying an
extradition request would be sent through diplomatic channels,
Rako said.
