Croatian soldier accidentally wounded in Afghanistan

ZAGREB, June 20 (Hina) - A soldier deployed in the Croatian ISAF contingent in Afghanistan has accidentally injured his fellow soldier in a camp in the north of the country while cleaning his weapon. The injuries are not serious, the Croatian Defence Ministry said in a statement on Monday afternoon.

The wounded soldier, who was shot in his left shin, received medial assistance at the site of the accident and was later transferred to the German military infirmary in the Marmal camp in northern Afghanistan, where he underwent surgery, the ministry reported.

The wounded soldier is not in critical condition.

The circumstances of the accident will be investigated.
