According to information available to the Croatian minister, the accident was a result of a combination of unforeseen circumstances and a big cloud of dust that reduced visibility for the pilot.
Two Croatians serving in the peace mission in Afghanistan were in the helicopter of the Afghan National Army (ANA), flown by an ISAF pilot from a NATO member country. It overturned during landing at an ISAF base in the east of the country between Kabul and Jalalabad. The helicopter was carrying five ISAF troops, three ANA members and a translator.
One of the two Croatians sustained light injuries to his leg.
Bozinovic stressed that this was an accident and not an attack.
