ZAGREB, Feb 29 (Hina) - Vesna Skare-Ozbolt, the former vice
president of the formerly ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ),
on Tuesday did not want to comment on allegations that she and HDZ
vice president Mate Granic would form a new party.
Skare-Ozbolt, who yesterday tendered her resignation on duties in
the HDZ, today said she was giving serious thought to everything
that was going on in the HDZ and her activities in the party, and
that she had yet to decide.
Skare-Ozbolt resigned on the duty of HDZ's vice president after
some members of the HDZ presidency on behalf of the party voiced
dissatisfaction with her decision to remain working in the Office
of the President of the Republic as Croatia's newly-elected
President Stipe Mesic's adviser.
Tendering her resignation, Skare-Ozbolt reminded she had handed
Mesic a resignation to her former function as the president's
deputy chief-of-staff. She said Mesic asked her to stay for some
time.
"I accepted his demand because I think it is normal and civilised
behaviour," Skare-Ozbolt says in the resignation and, disappointed
with reactions in her party, voices hope the HDZ will not elect such
a presidency ever again.
Asked if she was going to accept the position of president's adviser
on internal affairs, Skare-Ozbolt said she would decide after
talking to President Mesic.
