Canton Interior Ministry building in Livno undertaken by the
International Police Task Force (IPTF) earlier today with strong
backing from NATO's Stabilisation Force was a routine weaponry
control, a United Nations official said on Wednesday.
In Glamoc, the IPTF checked and established the correspondence
between documentation and weaponry, UN Mission to Bosnia spokesman
Allun Roberts told Radio Livno. The results of the control in Livno
will be outlined later, he added.
Roberts said the IPTF was authorised to carry out such check-ups,
and that they were carried out in police departments throughout
Bosnia to the effect of establishing correspondence between
documentation and weaponry.
Asked about reports that some premises in the Interior Ministry
building in Livno were forced open, Roberts said the IPTF was
authorised to enter all premises, and use force to open them if the
head of police refused to do so.
Today's search was okayed by IPTF's regional commander in Bihac,
Roberts told Radio Livno.
The search, which began around 10 a.m., was completed by 2 p.m.
