ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - Croatia's President-elect Stipe Mesic responded to uncertainties which appeared in the public concerning his and Sabor President Zlatko Tomcic's statements about the appointment of the person who will take the
helm of the Croatian Intelligence Service (HIS). During a short break of Tuesday's session of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Mesic, in relation to a journalist's claim that Tomcic, who is also the acting head of state, had denied his statement that agreement had been reached on that appointment, told reporters that it could not be said that Tomcic denied his words. "We have not agreed on any concrete person, but we did mention three, four names," Mesic said adding that he would be pleased if the future head of HIS be selected from those names. ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - Croatia's President-elect Stipe Mesic
responded to uncertainties which appeared in the public concerning
his and Sabor President Zlatko Tomcic's statements about the
appointment of the person who will take the helm of the Croatian
Intelligence Service (HIS).
During a short break of Tuesday's session of the Croatian People's
Party (HNS), Mesic, in relation to a journalist's claim that
Tomcic, who is also the acting head of state, had denied his
statement that agreement had been reached on that appointment, told
reporters that it could not be said that Tomcic denied his words.
"We have not agreed on any concrete person, but we did mention
three, four names," Mesic said adding that he would be pleased if
the future head of HIS be selected from those names.
I cannot speak of names Mesic said at the break of the session at
which he was relieved of duties as the HNS executive Vice
President.
Asked whether at the end of the oath he should take at his
inauguration as Croatia's President he would say "So Help Me God",
Mesic answered he was an legalist and he would respect law.
