ZAGREB, Feb 9 (Hina) - Representatives of Croatia's Independent
Trade Unions (NHS), the Alliance of Croatian Trade Unions, and the
Association of Workers' Trade Unions of Croatia on Wednesday held
talks with an International Labour Organisation (ILO) adviser in a
project for the development of small and medium-sized companies.
ILO adviser Walter Verhoeve acquainted Croatia's union
representatives with "Start and Improve Your Business", a
programme the ILO is launching in countries included in the
Stability Pact for Southeast Europe, the NHS said in a statement.
The programme is aimed at training future entrepreneurs, namely
people wanting to start their own business.
The NHS claims Croatia finds the programme especially interesting
due to its economic situation and the large number of unemployed
people, as well as due to a rather dormant tradition of small
entrepreneurship. The programme would be implemented over a period
of three years.
During his stay in Croatia, Verhoeve will also meet representatives
of the authorities and employers.
